How is anyone scanning, storing and retrieving Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)?
We looked at using Kryptiq's Document Management but it doesn't appear to have the same functionality as just attaching the scanned EOB in Centricity in Payment Entry under the Paperclip.
But the problem with using the Paperclip is that the images are stored in the SQL database and causes the database to grow significantly.
Any suggestions?

Is anyone doing this?
I created a "dummy" patient registration and scan them in under the paper clip a day at a time. Then at the end of the month, I export them to a folder that is housed on another server so that I don't eat up space on the Centricity server. At the end of the year, I export those files for the entire year onto a DVD for storage. This has workd well for us for nearly 8 years.
Took it completely off line. We used ABBY FineReader OCR functionality to scan and OCR the documents which were then stored in a logical format (year, month, company) on a network location as PDF documents. These searchable documents would contain the months worth of EOB data and the users would simply search for key words to jump to the EOB needed. Two years were kept on the network as active, and older were burned to DVD which users could "check out" and additional copies were stored in archival storage for 10 years. Today, there are many scanners that can OCR on the fly at 30 pages per minute or more and OCR accuracy has become quite good.
