Has anyone created an efficient use of the Scheduling Waitlist functionality?
Our scheduling staff say it is cumbersome to use.
Do you tend to create waitlist folders like "Today" and then move patient trying to get in Today...maybe move those to "2nd Day" at the end of the Today day?
Do you name the waitlist folders by appointment type or location or provider?
Do you clear them all out at the end of the day or keep them in there until someone notices the patient got an appointment that wasn't linked to the appointment on the wait list?
Any thoughts?
We use the waiting list for our 49 providers and don't think it's cumbersome to use. I created a waitlist for every provider. Appointments are still scheduled for patients, but they are also being attached the wait list if they want to come in sooner.
Now clearing them out is another subject. Looks like the appt's are left in there until they turn red, which means the appointment has already passed. We are specialists and probably don't use it as often as a primary Doc would.

We also have a folder for each provider and patients are added to the waitlist in the event that an sooner appt becomes available. We review each folder on a monthly basis, after the month has passed to remove any patients that have been seen. We also have separate folders for each month of the years for recall lists for any patients that do not schedule a f/u appt while in the office. Staff reviews each recall months folders prior to submitting the list to our recall software for contact. We too are a specialist so we don't have the same issues that a PCP or Internal Medicine.
