This question really has nothing to do with Centricity but I wanted to reach out and see if anyone could help!
Each of our offices keeps one dose vials of epinephrine on hand in case of an emergency. At this time each offices carries 5 single dose vials. Does anyone know if the amount of doses we keep on hand is a requirement? We were thinking of lowering the amount of single doses we have at each office depending on how far away the office is from an Emergency Room/hospital. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Lori
There is really no "Requirement" that I know of. And the amount of doses is not dependent on how far away the ER is but how far away the ambulance is. They carry enough doses to get to the hospital, they don't use your doses. You just have to have enough doses to maintain the patient until the ambulance arrives.
We tend to keep 2 1:1000 ampules on hand as well as 4 of the 1:10,000 on hand (as usually needed every 3-5 minutes in an arrest).
Hope this helped
Dan
Thanks Dan, this does help.
