We are on CPS 12.2 - hosted through a local VAR. For the last couple of months, we are having a lot of issues with flags. Flags *used to* come through on the Chart desktop summary screen with no problem. I sent a flag to someone else in the office, and it just appeared within a few seconds.
Now, the flags don't show up on our summary screen unless we: A. Send a flag out to someone else - or - B. Click on the "Alerts and Flags" tab. Either of those actions seem to refresh the Chart desktop summary. We have had our VAR and GE working on this for about two months. They have made quite a few changes that haven't resolved anything. Our VAR has been great about dedicating time/resources to helping us resolve it, but they are dependent on GE to help them. Now, we have received the following answer:
"I just got this response from GE. Have the user leave the summary, go to alerts and flags, and go back to summary, the flags should show up. They also said that the summary section for flags/alerts does not automatically update– it will occasionally do that, but it isn’t an expected feature."
First of all, we already know that clicking on the "Alerts and flags" tab will refresh the summary screen. Also, how is this not an "expected feature?" It has always worked that way in the past, but now it doesn't. Sounds broken to me. The reason this is a problem for us is this is how our nurses communicate with our providers all day long - anything going on with the patient that might not belong in the chart, what the patient might need done, questions the nurse has for the provider about the patient, what exam room the patient is in, and most importantly, the fact that the patient is ready for the provider to go into the exam room.
Is anyone else experiencing delays with flags on the summary screen? Does anyone have a different workflow for nurses/providers to communicate throughout the day?
Hello,
We had this same issue when we were on CPS 12.0.sp 12.
Here is the case number #1-1053832800 slow flag delivery. SPR 70022
Here are some notes from the case:
Some flags were in the DB with a NULL status which caused the delayed delivery.
GE sent us a modified mldefs5.txt file which I believe has fixed the issue.
Thank you
Sarah

yep- 70022 Compliance: Flag messages delivered late
It is scheduled to be fixed in 12.3 but sounds like Oregon clinic was able to get a fix sooner with a txt file? Might relay that information to your VAR.
Thanks Sarah - I forwarded that info to our VAR. Fingers crossed!
Sarah - I spoke with our VAR and GE. GE looked up your case but was unable to find the modified text file. Is that something you would be able to send me? GE would like me to send that to them. You can email me at [email protected] - thank you!
Hey there,
Turns out they recommended we made some modification to our existing mldefs5.txt file.
GE should be able to tell you what to modify based on your environment.
Good luck!
haha... They told us to ask you for a copy of the .txt file! Apparently, they didn't save it on their end or document what the actual change was. =/
Oh My! I will ask our DBA if she has information on the exact change. She was hesitant to send the file just because it is fairly customized to our environment and we would hate to mess anything up for you!
Thank you... I think the GE rep thought that if he reviewed the file, he could figure out what the change was, and then update our file accordingly. I appreciate your help!
We also have the same issue, our flags are getting delay
