When I go to Admin / System / LinkLogic / Stations: There is a list of Stations with a Description a State, Type and ID. I don't understand why these are here and I am not finding any information using the help feature in CPS 12.
Some of the descriptions are users who no long have active user accounts in CPS 12. Some of the State indicate Active while others have Inactive. I tried to remove the inactive ones and it asks me if I want to remove them, I click on yes but it does not remove them ?
We do have one with a State of Running DTS which I expect to see, however I don't understand why the others are there. I am hoping someone can shed some light on why these are here, is their any functionality around them, how do they get here and how to remove them.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide on this. It will be greatly appreciated.
I think they are added to the list when you install Centricity with the LinkLogic option on the PCs. They don't hurt anything being in there. The main problem is that it can be difficult to find your actual DTS server which is probably the only LL station that you would probably ever need to make modifications to in that GUI.
I only have one DTS server in my organization but I have a number of them in my list too. I have not installed LL on any other machine other than my server called TNCGEDTS1 but I see a number of workstations in my list as well. I have asked GE support about this in the past but never got an answer so I just am mentally OK with it unless I stumble into the answer someday. Interestingly for my case is that there are certainly workstations/users in the list who do Link Logic resolution but also many people who are considered low end users of CPS. Link Logic would be a foreign concept to them and they do not have rights to do the resolution so I can't explain why they are in that list.
Sometimes I get a message about L3ID in use and I think it is because of this list. It seems like a pretty benign error but I would rather not have that happen at all as it could be a sign of problems and I may ignore it thinking it is something I shouldn't worry about.. I went through and changed the ID number on some of the inactive stations to be 10000+ and I get less L3ID errors as a result. Like I said these inactive workstations are associated with people/workstations who would not know what Link Logic is so there should be no issue.
It is possible that these have been in my DB for years (many upgrades ago) and have been carried forward. I would like to clean that up if I could
