I have made edits to the "*Patient Instructions" handout. It works fine after I make the changes but if I log out of GE and then back in, the handout it broken. It then just puts out a bunch of MEL in the handout. Can anyone help me understand why this is happening?
There are two possible reasons - 1) there is an error in your MEL code or 2) you copied and pasted from a source that had some hidden formatting.
If you copied and pasted, you can try cutting the whole thing, pasting it in notepad (not word or word pad), and copying again and repasting it in the handout window. Or you could manually retype it. If the MEL code has an actual syntax error on the other hand, I wouldn't be able to help you without seeing the code. Could be something like missing a tag (like endif or endcond) or missing a quotation mark or something like that. The error message at the bottom of the MEL vomit might tell you.
Letters and Handouts are SUPER sensitive to copy and paste.
I agree with the suggestion to copy the whole thing out to NotePad or WordPad (if you have tables and/or rich text) then paste the whole thing back in.
It was because of the copy and paste. I was using copy and paste within GE to move a function from one handout to another in GE so I thought I was safe. Moved the sections I wanted to notepad and copied them into the handout from there and it's fixed. Thanks so much!!!
