Is there any way to change the settings so that when it is recorded in the chart that a handout was given it also shows the content of that handout??
I am working on a form that will build a work excuse handout. Currently we use letters for Work Excuses and frequently have to reprint those letters for patients who lose them. I have the areas of the form attached to OBS terms that pull to the handout. My only concern is if the patient needs a reprint down the road. Those OBS terms could potentially not apply to the visit they are requesting the work excuse for.
You are probably going to be better off making your encounter a Handout document type and printing the chart note your form creates rather than going the handout route. I don't know of a way to get the handout content in that document that checkbox creates. And that takes care of your reprint problem. Might not be quite as pretty but it should fit your workflow.
I agree with David. The letters are pretty useless for reprints. I have the same issue as they print with BP that are too high. If we have to reprint them we simply just rewrite the BP on it however that doesn't solve your problem. We don't use letters for much because of the problem you listed above.
