We are in the planning stages to start sharing our patient data with a Health Information Exchange. We are trying to find a way to identify in GE that a patient has consented to have their patient data sent to the exchange. We already use the phone number field with an option to opt in and opt out which we used for the patient portal.
Does anyone have a way to identify in GE a patient has opted in or out for a HIE that could also be used for us to trigger the interface that would send the data for the patient to the HIE.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide in this area. Also I would like to hear from those who are already sending patient data to a HIE on how your doing it.

We send CCDA's to our HIE through linklogic and Qvera interfaces. We use the Registry Tab to record Opt in and Out once the patient signs consent. Peg
