I have a VIP coming in. I would like to mark his reg/chart as sensitive and only allow a number of specific users to have access. From what I see, CPS works the other way around where I can place the reg/chart in the sensitive status and designate employees who CAN'T have access.
Help would be appreciated.
If you don't have security groups configured and assigned specific privileges, you've got a lot of work ahead of you.
We generally have a security group per job role -- both clinical and non-clinical. We have front desk, scheduler, MA, nurse, doctor, and so on. Our CPS privileges are assigned per role. Front desk doesn't need to see charts for example, so no chart access.
If a user covers two roles, say MA and front desk, then that user is a member of both the front desk and MA security groups, and therefore inherits the privileges of both security groups.
As far a sensitive registration (it should say sensitive chart, imho), only our higher-level clinical staff can open without being prompted for a reason to access the record. Anyone else is prompted for a reason.
If your security is currently configured so pretty much everyone has access to everything, you can remove the "view sensitive registration" privilege for everyone. Then add the users that should be able to view sensitive registrations without being prompted.
The other related privilege is "Access On Demand sensitive registration." Users with that privilege will be prompted for a reason to access the sensitive registration.
If a user does not have either of these two privileges, they will not be able to access the sensitive chart at all.
Here's the other thing to check. Under security, select security by permission, then expand Main Menu > Administration > Administrative Security > Set Security. Whoever is there has the ability to change every security option in Centricity.
