Did anyone update to IE 11? notice anything strange?
I'm hesitant to deploy globally because of potential issues but haven't found anything outside of the growth chart not working (dosing calc is broken in SP 11 mostly anyway)
I know GE said to wait for 12.2, but I'm not going to hold my breath. The solution of "leave IE 10 installed and tell end-users to browse the web using other browsers" is ludicrous. Clearly they don't understand how terribly that will go.
Windows must have really found some flaws in IE 10 to discontinue support like that, so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of security and usability.
We upgraded to IE11 as an enterprise, and it has been hell ever since. Our response times in GE quadrupled when using local clients. We cannot pin point exactly what the issue is - Enterprise mode, Compatibility mode, or gremlins. Our Citrix boxes still have IE9, and they are much faster currently. Technically, CPS12 is not approved for IE11 use.
Have you tried Edge?
What version of CPS are you currently running?
CPS12 SP11. Is GE certified for Edge?
My understanding is that 12.0 is only certified up to and including IE 10. Fortunately we are deployed on terminal services so we hold those machines at IE 10. The only problem in addition to those listed in the question that we have experienced with IE 11 is an error when you enter the help system - although the help system operates fine after acknowledging the error.
Steve
we are using version 11.0.9600 without issue for quite some time now. At least we haven't seen any issues that I would relate back to IE11. We are using it on our citrix boxes. Of course 11.63 is the newest version but it seems to be working fine. We do not have it self updating.
The good news is that CPS 12 will have support for both Windows 10 and IE 11. The bad news is that Edge will not be supported. Support for Edge will eventually be added to CPS, but I won't be holding my breath.
From my experience IE 11 will work fine as long as you don't need to use the items listed on the GE release notes. Example growth charts will not function at all. Other than that we have both workstations and citrix/RDP servers using IE 11 without any issues at this point.
However i agree that it is absolutely unacceptable that GE was not ready for this, MS announced this back in 2014. Another outright failure from GE development all the way around and depending on who you talk to keeping unsupported software without security patches fails to meet MU/HIPAA standards.
There is a compatibility with IEII and Messaging Tab not being compatible.
I agree with others that it is "ludicrous" for CPS to not be supporting IE11 by now. With that said, we have been running IE11 with CPS11 for almost 2 years now with no problems at all. I didn't even realize IE10 was not supported. UNTIL...we tried to implement Kryptiq's Secure Messaging, only to find out that it crashes when viewing the "Messaging" tab inside CPS. Downgrading to IE10 fixed the problem, but now I have to put Firefox on everyone's computers for all other browsing. And you're right, 'jdibioso', it has been terrible. Users change the default browser accidentally, new users forget they need to use firefox, or they try to re-use the IE window that CPS infamously leaves open. Not to mention the time it takes me to set it all up on each computer.
The thing that bothers me the most is, even if I upgrade to the latest version of CPS12, I still can't use IE11. They are saying 12.2, but that's not out yet.
Messaging works for me on IE 11. I follow these guidelines
2. Internet Options > General > Browsing History > Settings > View Objects > Delete MBCInstaller90.dll
3. Internet Options > General > Browsing History > Settings > Every time I visit the webpage > Ok (may be greyed out if so skip)
4. Internet Options > General > Browsing History > Delete Cookies & Website Data > Delete (if Preserve Favorites Website Data is listed uncheck
5. Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > sites > Add Secure Messaging URL subdomain > Close
6. Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Custom Level > under active X enable Allow Scriptlets > OK
Tools
1. If menu bar is not present: Right Click > Tools (gear in upper right hand corner of browser) > check Menu bar (reverse this step to remove)
2. From Menu Bar > Tools > Turn Off Smart Screen Filter
3. From Menu Bar > Tools > Turn off Pop-up Blocker
I actually do not have that problem. Only issues i see are within chart, not the messaging tab

I'm not sure i haven't seen it anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.
CPS 12.2 is the version that will support IE 11 but that does not have a release date yet
Here is a tip to help with the default browser situation. I have asked GE to consider altering this shortcut for their product but the suggestion has fallen on deaf ears.
Create a shortcut with the following:
Target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://tncgeservername:9080/centricityps/cps/
Start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer"
Replace the shortcut on the users desktop and in the users start menu this file which will be a .lnk file instead of a .url file.
Make a .bat file to push out to your workstations
xcopy /y "C:\bats\BetterCPSShortcutPush\CPS 12 Client.lnk" "\\ws01\c$\Users\Public\Desktop\"
del "\\ws01\c$\Users\Public\Desktop\CPS 12 Client.url"
xcopy /y "C:\bats\BetterCPSShortcutPush\CPS 12 Client.lnk" "\\ws01\c$\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Centricity Practice Solution 12\"
del "\\ws01\c$\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Centricity Practice Solution 12\CPS 12 Client.url"

FYI: Edge does not support ActiveX. All new HTML forms are ActiveX based.
Until Centricity will be converted to WebApi based system, most likely it will not support Edge.
