We are on CEMR 9.8.6 and our CMO would like to implement UpToDate (clinical decision making support). Their site mentions you can have a link in GE, but there's little to any detail listed.
Thanks for any help on this.
We have UpToDate connected to our EMR Clinical Education Infobutton. It launches for Patient Education, but we decided to stick with Truven there. Susan Johnson and Rebecca Sol/Support Manager from UpToDate were great to work with and very eager to help connect via GE. Open a support case at [email protected]
There are also old CHUG presentations floating around on linking UpToDate directly from an Encounter Form; UpToDate can share that form as well.
Biggest Infobutton issue is that Problem Searches haven't really worked on 9.8, however, because GE and UpToDate use different ICD-10 search standards (US vs. World).
Thank you for the information, much appreciated.
I just asked support at uptodate about this and they told me since we only have 1 physician, not an enterprise license they would do nothing to help me.
I reached out to UpToDate and got a response today that "At this current time GE Centricity has not set up the HL7 Infobutton functionality with UpToDate."
Are you using custom forms in GE? This is doable with some custom coding that can utilize checkboxes of the patients problems/medications with a link hooked up to a button that manipulates the UpToDate search url using the patients clinical lists.
My email is [email protected] if you would like more information.
Thanks,
Ryan
I can confirm what Pete said (above): if you have an Enterprise license, you can use UpToDate materials in CPS, but if you have an individual license (like we do), EMR integration is something you do not have access to.
