What workflows do you use to document communication between departments and interpreters? Specifically in relation to contacting patients?
Our facility does not allow our interpreters to have access to our EMR systems. So we are currently using Outlook calendar as a kind of message system but, as I am sure you can imagine, there are many issues with this workflow.
I know that it is only a matter of time before Outlook Calendar crashes and we lose all of that communication detail.
Suggestions please!!

we use Cyracom on a tablet. We call them when the patient is here, we get an interpreter in a matter of seconds usually. You can do audio or video, obviously you don't have an option when doing sign language. its quite reasonably priced.
