Hello,
I work for an Orthopaedic office and from time to time we diagnose Lyme disease via the laboratory testing and prescribe the antibiotics and refer to the PCP. According to Connecticut state law this is a reportable disease, similar to STDs, rabies, etc etc etc. My question is how does everyone handle this? Our docs treat it with the first bout of ABX but then refer the patient to their PCP for further workup. Who fills out the forms? Its my understanding that the form requires as much, if not more follow up as the patients do.
Anyone have any thoughts? Other Specialists? PCPs?
