Our providers have their preferences set to "Pharmacy's Prescribing Method" for prescriptions, however, even when a pharmacy is electronically enabled the pharmacy is still defaulting to Historical the majority of the time. Does anyone else have this issue and/or a solution? I have been working for a resolution but have not received one yet from Athena.
This is a longshot, but I was discussing this with one of my IT people. We think (maybe) we recall having a similar issue awhile back (possibly even years ago) and it had something to do with the spelling of some of the states being incorrect in the file \mldefs8.txt (resides in the local client folder). If the associated state for the pharmacy you are sending the prescription to is spelled incorrectly, it can't recognize it as electronic for the default prescribing method. Our state (Tennessee) was spelled with one "n" and it threw everything off. I think there was a problem with Tennessee, Ohio and Delaware and there may have been others. It was the craziest thing, I'm not sure who they assigned to spelling the state names but they should be fired! So...maybe check the spellings of your states!
I don't know if this is even remotely related to what you are having a problem with but I thought I would throw it out here just in case.
States look like they are spelled correctly in mldefs8.txt in version 20 🙂
