Hello everyone!
I thought I would ask about the new update process.
Download KB, Unzip to a directory.
Run new setup.exe.
Point to Centricity staging directory ( in my case C:\CentricityStage on JBOSS server.
Files are then placed (unzipped) in a new directory in the staging directory called Knowledgebase.
Server setup then runs automatically and then you go through the motions pointing to emrkb.inf in the new centricitystaging\knowledgebase directory.
The process worked without any problems or unexpected issues. The ICD/CPT update is included in a seperate directory under Centricity staging. I recommend if you are going to do the cpt/ICD update do it before you close server setup. If you run the setup file again it repeats the unzip process again.
My question is: Will next month's KB overwrite the new knowledgebase directory under Centricity staging or will they start to pile up?
Another question: Why the change in process?
Any thoughts or knowledge is appreciated
Thanks,
Jack
I was wondering the same thing but looking at the directory structure I have surmised that subsequent KB updates will likely go into the \Centricitystaging\Knowledgebase\kbinfo directory, effectively overwriting prior KBs. If they were going to pile them up I would think that it would be called 122020kb, 012021kb or something like that. I have never needed to access an old KB update from a prior month but do keep at least one or two old ones around just in case. A tech at GE recommended I do that but had no explanation as to why. They could always do a \Centricitystaging\Knowledgebase\backup for the prior month.
Last guess here about why the change. It does seem a little more straight forward this way. After all these years I am used to it but good either way.
