Hi everyone,
Our practice recently hired a Nurse Practitioner and I have a few questions for anyone with experience in this area. She is working under one of our Rheumatologists and I was wondering for the patients the NP sees whether it should be the NP or the Rheumatologist that should actually sign the office visit note. Has anyone had any issues either way when it comes to billing, etc if the note is authored/signed by the NP?
Thanks in advance for any help.
We are an Internal Med practice and have 4 NP's. The documentation is completed by our NP and the initial signature is completed by our NP's and then the office notes are routed to the MD/PCP for final signature.
We have NP's in our practice and they sign their notes and then route 5% of their notes (per day) to their supervising provider for review.
This is how it's been everywhere I've worked. Since Centricity only allows either require addtl signature or not, there's no automatic way to route only 5-10% of documents to the collaborating provider. It's either all or none... or manually remember to send some.
