During office visits the nurses sometimes do in house labs. We would like the nurses to be able to place the orders for these labs within the office visit. And since some of our providers do not complete their dictation in a timely manner we would also like the nurse to be able to sign the order. Some insurance companies require that these in house labs be billed within a few days of service to avoid late charges.
Since our nurses do not have privileges to sign Office visits they are unable to sign orders for in house labs. Is there a way to change settings to allow them to sign orders within an Office Visit without actually allowing them permissions to sign the document?
If they use "go to orders", the orders window will pop up and at the bottom there should be a sign orders button. This will sign any orders already in the office visit, then they can hold the visit to the physician.

The sign orders button is grayed out for nurses within Office Visits. I am assuming this is related to the fact that they can't sign that document type but am hoping there is another setting that I am missing that will allow them that function without giving signing privileges..
