The system requirements for CPS 12 include Office 2010/2013. Does anyone know if Office 365 would be an acceptable substitute?
Thanks,
Justin
Office 2013 may be ok for CPS, but if you use Centricity Analytics, GE only supports Office 2010. I trialed it and almost pulled the trigger when I found that out. And the other issue is that even if GE supports the latest 365 version (2013) now, when Microsoft updates 365 to a new version, you will most likely have it before GE will support it.

I think Office 365 upgrades are automatic, mandatory and can not be rolled back.
Any hope for Libre Office support in CPS or Analytics?
Thanks Jake and tnc, I think the automatic upgrade feature of Office 365 is a legitimate concern.
tnc - I think the dependency on MS Office is rooted in the use of interop files to export things from CPS to Office-formatted documents. It looks like Libre Office has its own version of interop but it would have to be targeted intentionally by CPS, it would not function as a drop-in substitute. Of course if you get the opportunity to test that theory we would be happy to hear of any positive results.

No reason to test as I know it will not work. I was just trying to openly suggest to GE and other vendors that Libre Office (an open standards based suite) would be preferable to a proprietary solution from MS. We use Libre Office internally where possible but CPS forces my hand of extra licensing costs and related licensing headaches.
I wonder where GE stands on the Office 365 issue. It is Bill Gates's dream to get us in the habit of renting software with a yearly or monthly fee. I like to avoid the 3 year or so cycle of a $40,000 transfer of funds to Microsoft if I can.
