Does anyone have or using online scheduling for patients to be able to self schedule?
We use a hybrid model, we have appointment request through our EZ Access portal, but we have to approve the appointments. We don't publish what type of appointment is available (new patient, office visit, procedure) because many of our appointment types have the length of the appointment type in the name, and don't wish for our patients to compare the amount of time they spent with the provider with the time posted in the appointment type. So we just show that there is an availability, and we will often deny the appointment but approve an alternate (through the portal) because the patient picked a day for their procedure where we only do OVs.
We also have a high population of patients with HMO or Medicaid plans, and the step of us approving the appointment allows us to check that the patient has the proper referral or authorization before the patient actually gets onto the schedule.

Thank you for the information, this sounds like what we are trying to do.
So you keep direct acces to the Centricity schedule blocked is that correct?
Sort of. The patients can see that there's an opening (but not the type or length of the appointment), they can request that spot, and when they do, the portal puts an "appointment" on the schedule entitled "Portal Request" . That keeps the appointment from being given to someone else until it gets processed.
If you approve it, that portal request turns into the appointment type you assign to it, and if you deny it, it goes away, and the date/time of the denial goes into the Patient Appointment Notes field in Registration. It's pretty slick, actually.

We just implemented 25 providers on ZocDoc and are starting the next round of 25 providers today. You can check out ZocDoc.com and see how patients can see provider availability and it will book right into Centricity. You have control over what ZocDoc can read in your CPS schedule. They even have an online check-in process and send appt reminders. The project team has been very helpful and great to work with. This has helped drive new patients (average 2 new patients per doctor in the first month).
Does ZocDoc allow you to have a direct link from your own website?
Yes, they have a button you can put on your home webpage that takes you to a zocdoc "white label" which only shows your providers. Here is one link so you can see what I mean. Or, if patients go to zocdoc.com they can do a provider search. The difference between zocdoc.com and the "white label" is the white label only shows your providers.
Look on the right of the page for the button to launch the "white label". http://www.hallmarkhealth.com/
THANK YOU!! Thats awesome
