Hi,
We have an Ophthalmologist that is interested in joining our group. I've been asked to provide a demo of our Centricity EHR (recently upgraded to 9.8).
In the past the content was very limited to the Ophthalmology, even thought we are using CCC Forms.
Are there any Ophthalmologist / Ophthalmology groups currently using Centricity EHR successfully? Did you have additonal content built by a 3rd party vendor? Or know of a vendor that customizes content for the EHR - Ophthalmology specialty?
Thanks,
-Alicia
I asked the same questions a couple of weeks ago as the ccc forms are limited for Ophthamology. We are working with the Doc's from Wheaton Eye Clinic in Illinois to build their forms.
Health1 has a comprehensive set of Ophthalmology forms if you are interested although some work will need to be done to customize them.
Our optometry department does use the CPS EHR. We have a plugin from Virtual Officeware that they use as well within CPS.

We worked with Lexington Eye Associates in Lexington, MA. They have some awesome forms and are willing to work with others. I worked with Chris McDonald, his email address is [email protected].
I concur. Chris was excellent to work with, but you do need to know a lot about advanced VFE programming to make any changes...I hope you know more than I did! But he is a great resource.
Our practice is a combined ophthalmology/optometry practice with 2 locations, and 3 docs. We have been using CPS 10.3 since last October (2013). We replaced ChartLogic 6 EMR (were using Centricity PM since 2001).
We are using the Lexington Eye Forms, but have made quite a few changes to some of them. wwalecka is correct. These forms are quite complex in the way they were developed. We had to learn quite a bit to be able to make even simple changes without "breaking the form".
We do not use any of the CCC forms.
Our overall experience has been mixed. The doctors' primary, regular frustration is with dealing with images and PDF scans. The CPS EMR is very weak with regard to the ability to bring up older and newer test results and compare them side by side (e.g. visual fields). It is also quite cumbersome to even find specific test results that have been scanned in, unless the staff is very diligent about labeling each scanned document to indicate what it is. Thumbnails can not be embedded into patient records as with other systems.
If anyone has figured out a good way to deal with images and PDFs of test results (OCTs, HRTs, VFs, etc.), please let me know!
I would be happy to share more specifics about our experience and welcome any pearls of wisdom from other eye care practices who are using other 3rd party forms or have figured out good workflows with CPS.
