Can anyone offer some guidance on how they set up orders within the Immunization Mgmt and Med Admin HTML forms? For Immunizations we usually bill for the vaccine and the administration of the vaccine. But it only lets me set up one order with each vaccination. Is there a way to add additional orders? I thought I would try Order Sets but it doesn't give you the option to select order sets in the HTML setup.
Also, the factory Immunization List already has orders set up for a lot of vaccines. I went to change one for Menactra and noticed that the Order Category is 1704292854044410. Where is this Order Category coming from? I don't see it in a list of options if I go to change the order category.
I apologize for all the questions recently about these HTML forms but I do not feel GE has provided adequate resources for set up of these forms. Maybe I just haven't looked in the right place yet? I am really becoming frustrated with trying to get these forms ready for use....
Make a copy of the factory list. Rename it and try and edit the factory defaults.
You just add the CPT code for the vaccine itself. The administration code is added when you actually enter the vaccine in the patient's chart. (Try it on a test patient.) Just make sure that on the Immunization form, when you are looking at the grid, the box to "Auto-generate orders" is checked off. It should be at the bottom right of the form when you enter a vaccine.
Medication administration is similar. There is a checkbox to auto-generate orders. However, when a medication is ordered in the form and then administered in the form, you also get a pop-up box to select additional procedure codes. This is where we select the admin code. Again, doing this on a test patient makes a lot more sense, but it does work. =)
The order category does default to that. I think it's how they update vaccine info, but don't quote me on that. I leave it to however they have it defaulted. It doesn't affect our workflow. Is there a reason you want to change it? You can if you click on "look up" next to the CPT code.
So I pretty well got rid of the Factory list as I didn't want our users to have to choose that list as an option.....
I have pretty well demolished the factory list as I was using that list to customize it to our clinic...Maybe I should have left it as it was??? I was kind of just thrown in to sink or swim with these forms...
So I guess that is why I was wanting to change the orders. I was thinking that I would need it to pull from the lists we have set up...
We did that when we first started, and then when we got the next update, it populated the Factory List again because it wasn't found. So, don't worry too much. Next time, leave it there though. Sometimes, that's where I'll find new immunizations. So then, I check out all of the settings for the new immunization and then manually add it to my list. We keep a list for our private vaccines and then a separate list for VFC vaccines. This helps us to track inventory/lot numbers. Because lot numbers are set up in here, it also helps to alert staff if they were to select VFC vaccine in error (because that lot number isn't in the private list).
