While recognize the need for the Order to be created, more and more of the suppliers (those that will do the requested services) are requiring answering many questions to facilitate the order processing.
We have been editing a default letter (with prompts, check-boxes, etc..) and then print/save the letter. But this is getting hard to manage, and we still have issues if key fields are not completed.
I suppose with VFE I could create an order entry module - asking specific questions, etc... But in addition to a lot of work to create a VFE for each task, this would require opening additional forms/encounters in GE Logician.
How are others handling providing important info to the Order Provider? Valid questions like is the patient on oxygen, bleeding issues, tracheotomy, etc...
Thanks.
We use Liaison and they are AMAZING! We can attach any AOE questions to specific testing (lab or radiology), so staff will know exactly what questions to ask. We have been using them for 8+ years when we started with GE and I can't imagine workflows without them. The other names you might know them as is Ignis or EMR-Link. They are always a step ahead and the support service is quick and helpful.
Best of luck,
FYI, Ask on Order Entry (AOE) questions is a feature enhancement that is being addressed with the latest overhaul of the orders module, but I am unaware of an ETA on when that will be completed. The recent announcement about GE's healthcare division being acquired could add some uncertainty as well. As already mentioned, Liaison has a solution available now, but it would likely require a commitment. I suppose you could develop your own, but it is probably not worth the investment in resources. I would probably check with Liaison first and see where that leads.
