Hi,
We are in the early stages of deciding on a PACS system to use. Does anyone have any feedback, good or bad, on what they are using? We are on CPS 12 and would mostly use it for mammography and ultrasound images.
Thanks in advance.
We have been using GE's PACS-IW product for two years and are very happy with it. We felt it to be superior to the other systems we considered rather than selecting it simply because we use other GE products. It has a viewer that our surgeons liked better than those from other companies and it creates links in the EMR to launch a patient's study with one click.
Two drawbacks to be aware of: 1) it has a tendency to create multiple links per study. I had to prevent that problem by writing a little filtering program. 2) it generates quite a few links that end up in LinkLogic needing to be manually matched because studies from certain imaging centers generate HL7 messages that contain only patient last name and date of birth. GE has promised to fix this issue, but has not done so yet.
We are in the process of switching from eRAD to Carestream. Past that, I have no details 🙂
Hi Ekappes
We also have PACS-IW here and currently use the EMR link for our larger hospital EMR systems but wanted to bake it into Centricity CPS. I'm curious, how does it appear in the EMR visually? Is it a clickable button or is it a free text link with the acession number? Wondering how that works because of the inherent security concerns with just a text link.
We are using and open source PACS server called Conquest with a client app (viewer) called K-PACS. It isn't exactly "feature rich" but it does its job, and it's free.
