We've been having an issue with PDF attachments loading slowly in our CPS environment. When an attachment is opened using the Centricity Practice Solution Browser the document opens with a high zoom by default. CPS Browser doesn't show the % but I would estimate that the documents open with a 200% zoom. Is there a way to adjust the default zoom in CPS browser?
On the PDFs loading slowly, I'd first start by seeing if it is a file system problem. On a chart document with a PDF attached, right click on the document, select change properties. Click the Edit button (next to Ext Attachments). Click the Change button. Copy the entire string in the Path field to your clipboard.
Now you have the path and filename that CPS is trying to open on the clipboard.
Click Start (or the symbol formerly known as start)> Run and paste the clipboard contents in the Open field and click OK.
If it takes just as long to open as in CPS, the problem is the file system and not CPS.
There are a number of possible causes. If you're using DFS, the client host may be connecting to a distant DFS server, or a DFS server may be offline but still in the DFS referal list.
There may be network congestion between the client host and the server hosting the file share.
That's just a few ideas.
IIRC, CPSBrowser is just a wrapper for IE. Try opening the PDF in IE and adjusting the zoom. Perhaps that will save a user's preferences.

We found a resolution to this issue.
Slowness: The users run CPS through a terminal server which is a VM. The VM had minimal VRAM allocated to it. We increased the VRAM and performance has improved.
Zoom: The users can adjust their zoom setting in CPS by adjusting their preferences in Adobe Reader.
