Does anyone have a Point of Service Collection system or tool that is used to improved collections from the POS? We have had webinars with companies, HealthIPass, Availity and Instamed and they all have tools that we like but want to investigate more before making a final decision. Does anyone have any of these products or are you using another POS product that improves front end collections that we could explore? If so, can you give some feedback on what the product is and if it's working for your company.

I've created a Mirth channel that runs a daily query on a CPS database for current balance, patient responsibility, and insurance responsibility. In my case I am sending the data to an external PM system so the staff know what to collect. It would probably be pretty easily to incorporate it into a web page of some type.
The query I'm using is pretty simple. IIRC, I copied most of it out of an existing report in CPS.
SELECT mim.ExternalId,pp.patientprofileid,pp.Balance,pp.InsBalance,pp.PatBalance FROM PatientProfileAgg pp inner join MIKIdMap mim on pp.PatientProfileId=mim.InternalId where mim.miktypemapid='28' order by mim.ExternalId
The miktypemapid value will most likely be different in your system. You'll have to look that up.

We are using Phreesia which is integrated with CPS. If the patient has an email address loaded, the patient can receive a "Pre-Reg" email where they can go in and register for their upcoming appt. If they have an outstanding balance, they we will prompted to pay the balance and can chose various payment plan options. If the patient has a copay and pre-reg day of the visit, they will be prompted to pay the copay. Phreesia also provides pads that have the ability to allow the patient to scan their credit/debit card if registering here at the clinic. There are many other functions such as ins eligibility which is much more readable than what comes with CPS. There are dashboards that allow the offices to see if the patient has paid their balance or if they have a payment plan, etc. We have been very happy with them.
