Hi All,
We used to have a method on the surescripts patient portal, [currently on version 8.0.14] where patients could register themselves through a pin number. We had to turn that feature off because children between the ages of 12-17 are restricted from accessing the portal. And now we are manually verifying every patient. This process is time consuming and can cause errors.
Does anyone else have these regulations regarding pediatric patients, and are still using automatic portal registrations? Can I learn more about your workflows?
Thanks,
Emily
We also use the Surescripts SMPP platform and are in MA where the mature minor statute is in effect. We use the PIN number registration workflow, but automatically remove portal access from children when they reach 12 years of age and don't allow for portal accounts to be created for adolescents between the ages of 12-18. Surescripts should be able to assist with the configuration.
