Are your providers struggling with workflows to meet Prescription Drug Monitoring program requirements? In Ohio, the Governor's office has agreed to invest $1.5 million a year to integrate the Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System (OARRS) directly into EMRs. Our organization is working with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy to convince GE to develop the tools to implement this integration. If your organization is interested in having this functionality, contact your GE rep and let them know.
We have also completed the request form found on the OARRS site for integration and forwarded the information to our VAR as well. So far, there are a number of EMRs listed in Ohio currently in the design phase for the integration with only two being successful. Really hoping the integration is up before the EPCS version of CPS is ready for GA. Would make things a lot easier to stay compliant with the Ohio regulations.
I'm looking for the same thing but in Washington State.
The Ohio Board of Pharmacy is interested in getting the most bang for the buck by initially working with those EHR vendors who have many customers in Ohio. I imagine other states would have similar preferences.
If done well, integration of prescription drug monitoring directly in the EMR would be a big improvement to what is now a very cumbersome process. Vendors are more likely to begin development if they have a lot of customers requesting the functionality, so we are hoping that many GE customers will request it.
