Has anyone run into the issue where it takes a user several tries to open up a PDF external attachment? I’ve got a handful of users (that I know of) that it can take 3 or 4 tries for a PDF to open when launched from inside the EMR. I’ve seen it where a downloading dialog starts and the progress bar never moves. It’s not a permissions issue as it will eventually open for them. I’ve deleted Citrix profiles and we’ve switched from using the IE plug-in to having it open with Reader but no change.

Are you using a UNC path to the image or an SQL Image Pointer?
DocuTrak (Indexing Client) actually puts the link in the extreferences table as http://servername/sharename\folder\folder\folder\folder\filename.pdf.
EMR 9.5

Sorry, haven't been back here since the post. Just curious, go to a test chart that has a scanned image and under the properties of the attachment, where it lists that path, replace the http reference with the unc path as a test. Might be hard to test since its a sporadic issue i believe.
I previously had similiar issues at various sites and found it best to have docutrak save the images as UNC not http, eliminating IE and having the adobe reader open the image.
We have run into this problem in CPS 9.5. When ends up happening is that the pdf opens, but hides behind a blank window. As a work around, we have our staff use the keyboard shortcut Alt-Tab. Hold the Alt key down and press the Tab key until you get into the document, then release the keys. Hope this helps you.
