Checking to see if anyone is using the RemoteApp Server portion of RDS for their clients. Any performance issues or nuances with CPS and Kryptiq products?
Thanks
We use it for our remote sites and it works well. Biggest issue is needing to use a 3rd party program for usb passthru to make card scanners work. Also if you use dragon for dictation, you will need to use the dictation box for it to work correctly. You will have issues with capitalization and some spelling issues.
Use both CPS and Document Management with it without any problems for the most part.
Are these issues above specific to the RemoteApps portion or do they apply to RDS as a whole? We currently use RDS for our clinical staff (all other staff are local client installs) and are entertaining the idea of converting all to RemoteApps.
Thanks
I believe it would be to Just RDS in general. All remoteapp does is push the actual program out and only displays it. I would believe you would have the same issues regardless of how it is being used.
I know that even on a full desktop push, we still have to use RemoteScan for our usb redirect. I havent tried Dragon with a full desktop but would think it would be the same issues as with RemoteApp.
I have not used RemoteApp but have tested it. You could create a batch file to call all the applications that are required and the last thing you would call would be CPS. For example, we have a script that calls Dragon (natspeak.exe) first, waits for the program to load and then calls CPS.
Are you pushing dragon remotely?
Do you use Document Management / DocuTrak with any of your Remote App users? If so, how do you have it configured and what obstacles did you encounter?
Thanks
I have 7 servers configured in RemoteApp fashion hosting CPS10.
I would say it is a success, my only trouble is when CPS crashes, an admin has to 'reset' their session. We have about 250 staff this happens about 1-2 times a day across them all.
If you want to talk more or see it in action I will show/talk about it. I have my reflection regarding the matter discussing remoteapp vs citrix.
