I have a provider who uses quick appends on pathology and imaging results, then signs/routes these to her nurse for follow up. Her nurse has reported that she does not always receive these. I have reviewed the provider's workflow, and it is correct. Is there any way to audit routing? Has anyone experienced this and how did you resolve it? Possibly a different workflow?
We had a similar problem, although in our case the provider was forgetting to route the appends.
I have a Crystal report that the nurse can run, she enters the provider's last name and the report returns all the appends that the provider has written. The report lists the pt. name & DOB, date of append, and the content of the append. The report isn't meant to replace routing, it just provides a mechanism to check for appends that either weren't routed or were prematurely removed from the nurse's desktop.
It's actually three reports - Appends since yesterday, Appends written in last 3 days, and Appends written in last 7 days. I can email you a copy if you are interested.
