How are other facilities handling Rx done on Monday morning that are sent over the weekend?
Do you mean rx's that are sent to the office that need to be refilled?
Yes
What's your current process now?
We, at one point had the nurses do it but sometimes they would not get it done. Especially on Mondays when there are alot.
We have a dedicated refill person (who does other duties too) that will put those in and they get entered on Monday; less phone calls from the patients and pharmacies.
Providers (on the other hand), will refill when they have the time (within 72 hours); we also have a provider (we call a Float) who covers desktops.
We used to have the original sent up to us and we would just remove them so the nurse would finish the resent one from the pharm (basically hoping the pharm re-sends). After going to the CHUG in San Fran a tech told use no need to do that let the nurses fill them on Monday evening after they're over 48 hours. That's where our problem arose, now some pharms are saying they not receiving the Rx at all.
You're receiving the rxs electronically?
If so, we don't; and we don't have standing orders for our nurses to refill meds.
