I am taking over a centricity environment and I was told after they Centricity 12 upgrade that the id card scanners and cameras that are needed for meaningful use were no longer able to be used. Being that I don't understand the mapping inside of centricity verifying the scanner is set up correctly is not able to be done. Any help so I can remedy this would be greatly appreciated. It seems as if everything is connected through plugins and so with out knowing what plugins are needed I am figuratively up the creek. I come from a big hospital environment that uses Epic EMR so that is my background and Centricity is a beast I have to become proficient in troubleshooting in a short time. I am looking for help but maybe also a couple people that know this platform that may be interested in helping this guy get up to speed.
Scanner is a Scan Shell 800N
I can tell you we use ScanShell 800's with CPS 12.
Our workflow is that we scan an ID using the Scanshell software. The Scanshell software saves the scan to a network folder. In CPS registration the user attaches the scan to the registration. Periodically someone deletes the obsolete scan files.
We do this for both ID cards and patient images. The vast majority of patients have a photo ID. We scan the photo ID and crop out all but the picture.
We use Ambir scanners and have had them for years. Nothing changed for us with the upgrade to CPS 12. We scan directly in to registration using the acquire.
We also use Ambir scanners without problems. However we are using a Logitech camera and we are unable to bring in patient pictures with it using the capture feature in CPS 12. This is because CPS tries to write the scan image to the root of C: and since Win Vista Windows be default prevents writing files to the root directory. So far we have been unable to remove this restriction. Therefore to patient pictures we scan their DL photo ID. One could also use another camera and write the pictures to a designated folder that can then be imported into CPS.
we use fujitsu. The fi 60f card scanners. fi 6110 and up double sided paper scanners. Camera is just a logitech on a stick.
we use canon and docketport, but the quality seems to be blurry when it goes into cps. Any suggestions to make it clearer.
