Is there any way to add a flag in the scheduler for specific patients? We are trying to figure out how to add a flag for our Chronic Opiod Patients specifically.
Why a flag? You could add a pop up alert so that everytime the chart is opened you get a reminder. Or You could just add it as a care alert that is on the patient's dashboard.
Just a thought

You probably already know that you can set up a care alert that will pop up every time you open the patient's registration, however this will not display on the schedule. As a workaround, you can use the medical record number field that is associated with patient registration if you are not using it (most use the Patient ID field to store their medical record number) and change the label of the field to "Opiod Use". This field can display in the scheduling module when making appointments.
However, BE FOREWARNED. Centricity displays the MRN field in certain reports (including clinical visit summaries) so if this information is not something you don't want to be shown on a report that might be given to a patient, then I would not do this. We use the MRN field to identify the extender (i.e. nurse practitioner) that is assigned to our patients. It's not the best solution, but it's the only workaround we have been able to identify until GE provides some custom fields that practices can use for things like this.
Yes we do already have and use care alerts. We were just trying to find a way to identify them on the schedule. We do have a couple reports now that pull the MRN numbers out of Centricity, so I don't think that will be an option for us to modify that field.
