Does anyone have any suggestions on how to train a scribe? We have a nurse who is now transitioning to a scribe for one of our providers. She is struggling with knowing what forms to document information on. Obviously a lot of this will just be learn as you go and will become easier the more familiar she becomes with the forms.
I have offered the CBT courses and recommended that she use some of the providers previous office notes and re-create those on test patients to help her become more familiar with the forms and how her provider likes to compose his notes.
Wondering if there are any other techniques that others have used and proven to be helpful?
Thanks!!
We have a full out scribe training program at our practice, complete with documentation, shadowing assignments and periodic auditing of charts. I am happy to speak with you or refer you to our lead scribe who is in charge of the entire program. It has been very successful for the practice and we are using the program as a standard for our other staff trainings for the future.
Feel free to reach out directly to connect!

Scribes come to training at our practice. We spend about 2 hours with them one-on-one in a computer room type setting. It is also key that they spend time shadowing the provider prior to being responsible for entering all of the chart information. Our 2 hours with them involves going over the forms they will be using, what type of information would be entered there, etc etc.
