We have a new provider who told me that on an EMR system he used previously he was able to create quick text from within an encounter. He asked if he as able to that in GE and I told him that I did not know of a way.
Does anyone know if this is possible? He finds that he is typing the same things in the assessment area for common patient problems and was hoping he could create a quick text from the form rather than copying the detail and creating it under the options tab outside of the patient encounter.
I don't know of any way to do that. GE stores quick text in the database and not locally in the client.
Not that I am aware of. I have submitted enhancement requests to make it easier to create quick text from within a document. Not to sound like a provider, but it takes a fair number of clicks to add a quick text if you are in a document charting and it would be great if there were an easier way.
I personally use AutoHotKey ( https://www.autohotkey.com/) for this type of thing. A more powerful option is AutoIT ( https://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/). A very simple version is Texter ( http://lifehacker.com/238306/lifehacker-code-texter-windows). I used to use Texter, but occasionally it would crash, so I switched to AutoHotKey.
I set it up to test in our production environment for CPS years ago, but it never really caught on.
Hi Jessica,
It isn't possible to create a conventional QuickText macro from the progress note, unfortunately, but Blackbird Solutions has an HTML version of the Assessment and Plan form that does support this. The macros can be created "on-the-fly" while the provider is working on the Assessment and Plan. In addition to text or MEL macros, the system supports spell checking, text formatting (bold/italics/underline), review of old assessments, and organization of common orders/meds/macros/care plans/flowsheets in a problem-centric fashion.
If you would be interested in a demo, please let me know.
Thanks,
David
