Hello,
We are considering implementing the Surescripts ACM Mass Messaging module (we use Surescripts Patient Portal). Wondering if anyone is using this and would have some use case examples? We are also trying to determine the average time spent to create the messages and if sending bulk messages has much of an impact on network services. Thanks in advance.
We are using it. The difficult part for us is determining from inside GE Logician who is active on the portal (has a completely configured account).
1) Write a Crystal Report to select patient to be contacted.
2) Do a validation to see if the person got a Portal PIN and if the stored email appears valid; amazing how many bad emails are stored.
3) Import the list into ACM, and create the matching email and any related attachments.
4) Send out a single person test - to a pre-defined test patient to validate.
5) Send out live messages. This can take quite a while if your list in in the thousands.
6) Ultimately see a final summary showing number attempted and number actually delivered.
This is just one tool in our outreach campaigns. We also send conventional mail, and automated phone call reminders. Depending on the project, could be high or low response rate. However, the ACM has a minimal variable cost (the time and effort to build the files, etc...) vs. a conventional postal mailing.
Be happy to talk more, if you would like.

How do you determine which patients have fully configured accounts vs. the ones sent a PIN that never signed up. Thanks!
At present, we do not. We simply let the ACM module error out (and not send) for those patients.
Not very elegant. But, still waiting to hear (or hoping to hear) that Surescripts has a better way to manage and know the people who are configured.
