Dear CHUG - do you offer dental services at your sites? Have any of you made the switch from Dentrix to VisDental? Or vice versa? What has your experience been?
We have not used VisDental, but have had dentrix for many years now. It uses a billing and schedule interface to our PM side of Centricity that was built by Visualutions. here is my thoughts on it:
Pros:
- Dentrix is pretty stable, and runs well on it's own. needs little maintenance
- Interfaces allow us to send schedule info to Dentrix, and receive billing codes back.
- Support for Dentrix is usually very good. online chat is quicker than many other software vendors.
Cons:
- Interfaces do sometimes have issues, which throws our workflow into chaos. (not too frequent)
- as a CHC, we have to use the Enterprise version of Dentrix, which is lacking several features that the regular Dentrix has.
- Since it does not naturally integrate, there are several features in Dentrix that we have to ignore, as they don't fit our workflow in any easy way.
Overall, we like the Dentrix system, and it has been very reliable and stable. I would love to hear from others using VisDental, or any other dental software in conjuction with GE's product.
Let me know if you have any questions about our setup.
Daniel C.
We use VisDental at our facility. We used to have Dentrix prior to getting CPS but decided to switch everything at once a couple years ago. Overall, VisDental is very stable and works well. It's not as fancy as Dentrix but once the users adjust, it doesn't seem to affect them much. Make sure your network is very "sound" because we used to have an issue with the billing codes and/or documentation coming over from VisDental to CPS. One complaint from our providers is the imaging software they use called Patient Gallery. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles they're used to and it really has a Windows 3.1 feel to it.
I'd be happy to get someone in touch with my Dental Analyst directly as she can answer any questions anyone may have.
