Hi CHUG,
Has anyone begun to implement the new Task Management feature in CPS10.? and above? It appears to be a nice "tickler" file and way to track, but it is hard to get this tool off the ground without examples of workflows to use. So far, from the presentations I see where it would be helpful in entering Insurance Groups with the last filed older than 45 days in the status of everything but paid over a certain dollar amount. Or, another example is it's a good way to see the visit owner queues. But this way seems like more work because you still need to assign and unassign the visit owners.
I see potential value in the tool for the productivity reports but how do you convince the billers of it's benefits? Has anyone actually setup queues and worked them? What is working well? What is not? I know the queues and workflows are unique to your office but I am looking for some ideas to get started.
Any and all suggestions are welcome. Please post on the forum for others to learn as well. Or, if you are shy, please email me directly: [email protected]
Hi Angela-
I see your post is very nearly a year old and you've probably figured it out already, but we have been using TM for about four months and I'd be happy to share information or compare notes.
You are right that getting it started was a little complicated and I did have a few false starts.
In most cases the tasks are generated as you suggest; By insurance group depending on age and insurance balance. It has been helpful for us to assign specific work to different people and to get an idea of status. It's also helpful for the employees that we have the TM queues divided by payer group so they can work groups of claims more efficiently.
I also have a second set of queues that populate by visit owner, and a third set that are set to catch specific situations related to patient balance.
Please do be aware that "sets" of TM queues are only how I think about them. There is no way to divide or sort the queues. TM is a decent tool, but do wish it was more robust in a few ways.
I am actually here on the CHUG website today looking for information about reporting related to TM queues. So far I've not found anything but if you're interested I can let you know what I do eventually find out.
Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll be happy to answer if I can.
Have a great day!

That is so nice of you to respond! I have been working with many practices on the TM feature since my original post and have compiled a nice list of suggestions and lessons learned. I hope to co-present at the April CHUG conference in Las Vegas this year with an FQHC office that I have been working closely with on how we used Task Management to clean up billing. Fingers crossed that our presentation gets chosen so we can share our journey! Again, I appriciate the outreach. I would love a screenshot of your queue's and maybe some comments on how you use them! I am a collector of suggestions and I love to share! [email protected]. Thank you so much.
