Hi All,
How are you all sending telemedicine links to patients? We are trying to figure out the best solution to send our patients links [we're using zoom so each provider has a unique zoom id]. Right now our main source of sending links is through text, but that require the patients to use their phone instead of a tablet or computer.
Is anyone using secure messaging or other platforms to send emails to patients containing telehealth links?
We're on SMPP 8.0.14 and CPS 12.3.3.
Thanks,
Emily
We are copying the Zoom meeting information and sending it to the patient through Messaging. This does require the patient be set up on the portal so our offices are making sure they have a portal account first. The patient can then choose what device to open the portal on, their computer, laptop or phone.

Thanks for the reply Linda. Is this a manual process with your front desk staff?
Yes, unfortunately it is a manual process.
Agree with Linda- very manual process. We looked at Ordoro - they integrate zoom with Centricity in just a few days but unfortunately the cost at this time given all the things just didn't work for us.
I will say- if your practice can swing it though, it's worth a conversation with them- completely streamlines the zoom process.

We were sending the links through regular e-mail but very time consuming. We did sign up with Odoro and now they send them. Set up was easy and they are great to work with.
We are using Microsoft teams. Scheduling staff create the Teams meeting in outlook on a shared calendar and send the invite with a link to the meeting inside of it to the patient through outlook (not secure)
The provider accesses the shared calendar to join the meeting .
We are having lots of calls from patients who are having trouble setting up mics/cameras and overall confusion with the whole process.
We are using SMPP 8.0.14 also. Sending url's fails inside smpp fail and Surescripts engineering won't prioritize that fix so we set up a dedicated email for staff to send the doxy.me links from but they have to call the patient and get their email they want it sent to even for those set up to get mail in smpp and they manually send them the url for their appt and are calling them ahead to register and make sure they can get in and see video etc. We are on EMR.
We are sending out the links via a check-in workflow in Phreesia.
Here's our current workflow:
Nurse has a Samsung Tablet with a licensed Zoom account logged in.
Nurse creates a Telehealth encounter and calls the patient to assist with getting Zoom set up on their device. They read the telehealth disclosure, ask for any patient reported vitals, enter a CC, and if needed, conference in a translator with our translation services. This is usually done the day before the appointment. 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment, the nurse calls the patient and gets them connected to the Zoom. They simply tell them the Zoom Meeting ID and Password. Once the patient and nurse are connected, the nurse invites the provider into the zoom meeting. (the tablet and provider are signed into Zoom as the same licensed user). The provider joins just like any other user and the nurse can jump out of the Zoom now. This will leave the provider, patient and translator on the meeting.
