Our organization is onboarding an Urgent Care facility and it has been decided that they will chart using GE Centricity EMR. We currently run 9.8.10 and exclusively use custom VFE encounter forms.
We would love to hear from other organizations who've successfully implemented C-EMR in an urgent care center. Specifically, we would like to know what kind of forms did you create, which PM systems work best (if used), are there third-party apps that have been effective, etc.
We have some concerns about the limitations of C-EMR in this setting and your guidance is much appreciated.

Hello,
We have 15+ Urgent Care centers that document using C-EMR. We use Centricity Group Management (GM) as a PM system. We schedule patients as they arrive in a generic appointment book (i.e. Jericho Urgent Care Providers), and the patient will see whichever provider is next available.
We were originally using GE's standard CCC forms, but they were not built for an urgent care setting, so data entry was cumbersome and really not conducive to such a fast-paced, high volume environment. My colleague and I met with seven urgent care providers over a two month time period, evaluated their workflows and needs, and were able to build four custom Urgent care forms using VFE.
1) History of Present Illness, Vital Signs, Past Medical Hx, Past Surgical Hx, Family Hx, Social Hx, Risk Factors, Problems, Medications, Allergies and Review of Systems
2) Orders (basically just buttons with the most commonly ordered items. You could probably even eliminate this form if your providers are okay just using an Orders Custom list.)
3) Physical Exam (similar to the PE-CCC form)
4) Assessment and Plan and Patient Instructions
We found that documentation time was cut in half once we were able to build our own. In my opinion, GE just hasn't provided anything realistic or practical in terms of Urgent Care documentation. But it sounds like you guys have experience building your own VFE forms, so I'm sure you could figure out the best solution for your Urgent Care providers.
