Do you need patient consent to use a copy of their drivers license picture to crop and put in the EMR as patient picture for identification? Or can you add a statement in your Notice of Privacy Practice that you will be using the copy of their drivers license for this purpose.
I would like to know how other organizations are doing this?

It would depend on your States guidelines for copying their drivers license. We can use their drivers license as long as it is black/white- not color. We crop their photo and do not keep a copy of their drivers license in their file.
