Hello all, hopefully someone out there has an answer for me. We are transitioning our scanning department onto Windows 7 computers which is forcing us to dump Adobe Capture which is no longer produced. We were advised to use ScandAll pro that comes packaged with new Fujitsu scanners. Having never used this method to scan, I am at a loss for where to start to set it up in a similar fashion to the workflows of Capture. Currently, we have a workflow for each provider that points to a network share with the provider's name that our users then access via Document Manager to index. Is this possible with ScandAll? Any documentation or advice on how to set this up would be greatly appreciated.
Happy Holidays,
Gary
If you have current licenses for Adobe Acrobat Capture you can use it on windows 7 with no problems.
Yes you can create similar workflows in Scandall pro. use the batch scan settings and create a new batch scan for each provider / network location.
Our users however have reported that certain changes to workflow, such as double sided, slow them down as there appears to be no easy way to switch scan options like in Capture.
If you need any help let me know.
Hi Josh,
Thanks for the advice. I am happy to hear that Capture works with Windows 7. In playing with Scandall, I noticed a few areas that would cause our users more work. In particular, duplex scanning and multipage documents would require settings changes to the template. I think we will keep using Capture as an old, but reliable solution. If only Adobe wouldn't have abandoned that product.
Happy New Year,

Yes that is indeed the issues we have run into as well.
Our issue with capture is we have been using it for quiet some time, and have no real idea when the page count on the licenses expire. So for now Scandall is the replacement we have lined up, but we are not 100% happy with it.
If you check out the adobe page on Capture it talks about how the functionality has been built into other products in their line-up and that's why they have discontinued. Maybe its worth a call to find out what they would suggest as a replacement.
Good luck, and I will update after I make that call.
Josh
We are in the same boat with the page count
One alternative we have (slowly) put in place is by using out copiers that have the capability to scan to PDF to the watch folders.
We still have a few sites that we cannot do this (they are School Health programs that due to their locations have connectivity issues that disallow this type of setup), thus we would prefer to keep them on Capture. Is there any alternate way to get more page counts either loaded onto the dongle or a place to obtain more of them?
We've used Scandall for years, and it's worked great for us. We scan centrally for 13 of our offices, and we're not slowed down at all. Once you get the workflow ironed out, it's not that bad. Set up two templates, one for single-page and the other for multi-page, and you can scan quickly. Capture might be fewer clicks, but we don't have to worry about the software license cost.
You can use a Scansnap (s1500) if you just want to drop a PDF to a shared folder.
Its about half the price of a full blown twain fujitsu scanner. The scansnap manager will let you just drop a file to a shared directory with no frills. However the scansnap has NO twain driver. But if all you need is PDF is pretty nice option, and still a fuji product. So you can get cheap consumables.
Gary,
We have been using ScandAll Pro in our 20+ pediatric offices and it is great. As long as you have the right preferences setup (naming convention, file type, saving location) then there are no problems.
Let me know if you have any questions.
