Has anyone had any use with VSC (Virtual Signature Capture)? We are looking as this as an add on product and were wanting some feedback on how it is used and its capabilities to see if it is a right fit for our practice.
We are in the initial stages of deploying it out to replace our paper forms. I have been building the templates over the last month or so. So far, in limited testing, it has worked great. We are hoping to go live with it at our first clinic in about 2 weeks.
We use it for consent forms, some on a set schedule, some on demand launched from custom encounter forms. We setup the templates a few years ago and it has been virtually maintenance free ever since, one of our better bolt on products.
We use this at our practice and it works great.
It is highly customizable when it comes to what information you want to capture. The most recent version allows for updating the registration, so it works great for Consents and patient demographic information. It can pull information from obsterms and do calculations. It is in VFE so the form building isn't completely different if you have experience with the form editor.
You can set which forms you want patients to fill out on a schedule or load them on the fly. This is nice for reducing repeat questions for patients, so you don't get the "You've asked this 3 times already" type responses.
I would say that it's only drawback is the lack of compatibility with Topaz signature and sometimes its difficult to make it the forms aesthetically pleasing. You can overcome these issues by putting the forms on touchscreens for any signatures (Like an iPad) and you can get crafty with how to lay out your forms. It is browser based, so you can put it on really any platform.
It has a very secure method of user interaction so you don't have to worry about patients seeing other peoples forms or patient information. (Basically you log the patient in with a PIN, they can see all the forms for only that patient, then it goes back to the log in screen awaiting the next PIN.)
Overall it is a great product and I highly recommend it.

I would have to agree with James Caswell!
In our practice it seems that we cannot set it up so that you have to answer a question before moving on to the next field based on the answer to the current question. For instance, Do You Have Insurance? If no skip to the next question. If yes....then it needs to be required.
Anyone found a way to do this?
Tim, you can make a field on a Visual Signature Capture template required when you edit it is Visual Form Editor. If the patient tries to click Submit, each required field will show a message that it needs to be completed. At this time, there isn't a way to make subsequent fields required based on a previous answer.
Dangit David, I was just about to post that.
