We are having an issue when trying to set up webcams for taking patient photos in the registration section in the EMR. When trying to take the picture with the webcam option, we are getting the "failed to aquire picture from device" error message. GE basically gave us the option to do 1 of 2 things.
- Give admin rights to all of our front desk users in order for them to right to the C drive.
- Use the camera option vs the webcam option. The camera option, however, stores all the photos that you take so you are seeing all patient photos you take. Because of this, they suggested to create a task or a script to remove these photos any few hours.
Has anyone else had this issue? Have you created a work flow that is actually feasible and works?

We use an application called Webcam7 ( http://www.webcamxp.com/ )
What it does it let you select a camera source and snap photo to shared path.
Once the users browses to that path, they can choose the file and select delete after import.
Droping files to a path is much more robust because you can choose the application to save to the location, you are not stuck with GE based integration.
