We are a medium sized multi-specialty clinic with about 120 physicians. My CIO is interested in how many full or part time FTEs you have committed to report generation for the EMR and separately for Practice Management if you have them separate. We are starting a PCMH project which has substantial reporting requirements. We also are starting a separate in house quality project which has 44 different quality reports. These in addition to financial reporting, PQRS, Meaningful Use, and Bridges to Excellence.
Any information on the number of people writing reports at your organization would be appreciated. Thank you.
We are similarly sized and am curious if you received any replies.
Thanks!
Our organization has over 100 single specialty providers who do not attest for Meaningful Use. We are in the process of converting the EMR data and GM date to Origin BI. Before that we have been utilizing Analyzer. Our Analytics Team has 2.5 FTE working on both Clinical and Non-Clinical Reporting. We anticipate it will need to be beefed up over the next year as more reporting is going to be required.
We have 100+ providers (about 40 Attending Physicians and 70+ residents). There is probably not a lot of difference in reporting requirements whether 25 or 125 doctors (just perhaps a group or two). I am the only resource to build custom reporting, and seem to be keeping-up with demand.
For us, there is not just the development time for reports, but also a need to develop the process to use whatever is learned from the reporting. And, that can often take much longer than the report creation.
Sure, three or four resources could develop more reporting. However, it comes down to what the purpose of the reporting is, and can changes to the clinical process happen at the same rate of change?
If the process is laid out well, then once the report is built there should not be a need to adjust in the future. For instance, if the process is for every Monday (or Tuesday) morning to show activity for the prior week, it is possible to set begin and end dates dynamically. Thus, the report does not need to be adjusted manually or even have input parameters supplied to it.
Hope that helps.
