Has anybody looked at compatibility workarounds for Windows 10 and CPS 12. (I'm not holding my breath)
Create a published app of of a windows terminal server then run it on Windows 10. That's what I do on my workstation 🙂
Greg
I'm running CPS on windows 8.1 and was curious of the same thing. I also use a terminal server to run it in other instances.
wow, just installed it on windows 10 for the heck of it and yea... it flat out tells me it an invalid OS and won't go any further even with compatibility mode turned on.
My question is: Has anyone heard anything about when GE will make CPS compatible with Windows 10. Since CPS 12.x runs fine on Win 8.1 it shouldn't be too hard to get it on Win 10. GE specifically says CPS 12.x is compatible with Win 8 in the documentation for 12.0.10 and we have been using CPS 12.x on Win 8.1 for a year+ now without any problems.
Anyone heard any new news on windows 10?
I'm running it as an Remote Desktop Web App, like Greg, and it works pretty well. User has to log in twice though. Once to authenticate them with the RDS server, then again for CPS. Other than that, the user doesn't know the difference.
I am running into an issue with running CPS 12 on Windows 10 as well. This is unfortunate because I am responsible for making changes to CCC files through TFE and cannot verify changes on my laptop using a local copy of CCC. The only option I have is using a Windows 7 laptop independent from my everyday laptop.
Although not very sexy, Windows 10 incorporates a real hypervisor so you can easily install a windows 7 box on your windows 10 machine and run 7 on one monitor for CPS etc. Hell, it's not uncommon for me to spin up Windows 2012 SQL servers on my windows 10 workstation for design or proof of concept. I've virtualized our Active Directory domain controller and can run it on my home office PC. Just make sure it has a processor which supports virtualization (most newer ones do although it has to be turned on in BIOS) enough disk space or USB 3.0 external drive capability and a enough RAM.
You should be able to change the settings to "remember my credentials" so you don't have to log in twice. I don't from my setup.

Going by their inability to stay current with IE, and to ignore or give counter-advise re: the IE 10 flaws, I'd say we can expect GE to support Windows 10 around 2020 with CPS 14.4.201.4 Patch 12 in their LA sites only. 😛
I have my RDS server set to never allow saved credentials since it is the same server that provider are logging into from home.
That would be a valid reason for not having that set. I have an dedicated application server I use to publish CPS and a handful of other internal programs I don't want installed locally on people's machines.
There is a way to get it to work on windows 10, i am using it, but you have to use Chrome as your default browser, and then use IE Tab and setup your CPS URL as an AUTOURL to open in IE Tab automatically. This allows you to run CPS on windows 10, I have yet to have any issues.
I was wondering if that would work (that's how I run my machine currently), but got sidetracked and set this project aside... until now. 🙂 Thanks!
