Hi everyone
I was wondering if anyone would like to discuss their Windows 10 strategies. We are still on Windows 7 and would like to proceed to a Windows 10 roll out over the next few years (Windows 7 "End of Life" is January 14, 2020). There are a few things I do like about Windows and some things which I do not like. Windows 10 Enterprise is my first choice so that we can take advantage of Bitlocker technology just in case we have any stray PHI on the workstations. As you would guess, Microsoft complicates things with the licensing so that there are multiple ways to get to Windows 10 Enterprise. I am really liking the "Long Term Servicing Branch" or LTSB version as it does not have the Microsoft Store, Skype, or Edge and does not get the automatic updates pushed to it. The down side is that it is only slightly cheaper than Windows 10 Enterprise with "Software Assurance" fee forced into the price. I am not really a fan of SA unless I know that I will be taking advantage of newer versions of software and I still sometimes hear that "Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows" and will just get updates perpetually thereafter.
Just curious what everyone else is doing or thinking of doing. I am currently evaluating Windows 10 LTSB and I really like not having to hack the registry and use Windows Powershell to disable the things like Xbox Live, Windows App store, skype and etc. There are no ads in the start menu, either. This looks to be the most appropriate version of Windows for business.
