I'm looking for some help with Workman's Comp. Hopefully, from a pain or other specialty practice that has only one Case Manager. Our case manager is also a nurse, so a lot of what she does crosses both sides of CPS and I want to try and make things easier to understand for her.
From the EMR side, I've developed a form where she can do some basic documentation of Authorization numbers and Adjuster/Case worker contact info., things that aren't present on the PM side. She'll also be heavily utilizing the Phone Note for long term tracking of correspondence. However, what happens on the PM side when a patient comes in with two different injuries on the same case number with different dates of injury? Is it common practice for Case Managers to do their own scheduling in addition to setting up the case in Registration?
Has anyone had any luck at building forms or workflows that help bridge the gap between the PM and EMR sides of things? We're getting in to our last couple of weeks of training before Go-Live, so any help and insight is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rebecca H.

Are you using the case management feature in PM to track these?
Yes. We set up the case in PM. However, there are a lot of other things the Case Manager needs to track, such as Pre-cert#'s for MRIs, and frequently changing contact information for Adjusters and other Case Workers involved with a particular case. We also have patients who have more than one Work Related Injury and we see them for both. Sometimes each injury is covered by the same company, sometimes they aren't. We need to be able to document and track all aspects of each case for any given Work/Comp patient.
Are there other features of case management that would allow for this? All I've seen is where the case is originally set up in Registration.
