HELP!!! We upgraded to CPS 12 about 3 weeks ago with the latest surescripts. We have had problems with pharmacies not receiving eprescribed meds such as epi-pen. The Rx looks like it went through electronically, and we do not receive any return error messages. However, there is no trace of the Rx in our surescripts log. We end up with a call from a parent wondering where the rx is...
Our vendor told us that it was because the "instructions could not be understood." We do have the question mark icon when we prescribe epi-pen and other meds with atypical instructions (z-pak, medrol dose pack, etc). We are told that we must enter a numerical dose, a unit, and a frequency per day so that the system can calculate the max dose. For example, if I enter 0.15mg every 5-15 minutes, that works. 1 unit every 5 minutes works. HOWEVER... those are not correct instructions. The correct instructions would be 0.15mg at onset of anaphylaxis.
We are out of ideas, and so is our vendor. The only solution they can offer is to print scripts, which is a big step in the wrong direction. Any creative suggestions for med instructions would be greatly appreciated!!!
