Good Day Fellow Chuggers -
Has anyone had any experience with using CEMR with the iPad via a VPN? We have several physicians wanting to buy the 3G version for On-Call and wondered if anyone has had any experience either good or bad.
We have a wireless only version that we had tested here on campus and it seamed to work OK but I was unsure of any issues that we might face. The only thing I could think of is slow response times with areas with poor cell coverage.
Thanks,
Chad
It should work as long as you have an RDP App on the iPad or Citrix, we have been using RDP without any issues.
We use it very successfully. That is to say, we use Citrix successfully, but the concept should not be much different. If you use the built in VPN connector in the iPad, you may experience a slight performance hit, depending on the power of your VPN concentrator and RDP server, but you could always publish to a non-standard port if you are only using RDP and make sure you enforce strong passwords.
Thanks for the replies -
Has anyone used it over 3G by chance?
Thanks,
Chad

All the time.
I bought an APP called Pocket Cloud. I'm able to use it on a WIFI network or on 3G with the new Ipad. I believe the price was around $15.00. It's not slow at all, although it's a bit more cumbersome to use than on a laptop. Lori Weiss [email protected]
Morning Lori -
That is what we have been testing with too. It has been a while but I thought there was a free version of Poket Cloud.
We have several providers that have been using it and the feedback has been mixed. For those that are on-call and just want access when they get paged and want to look at PMH, Meds etc ... they love it. For those that are wanting to chart they can't stand the constent zooming and moving.
Agreed. I wouldn't want to use it full time in the office, I can use it for all facets of use, albeit a bit more time consuming than on a laptop. I think that the version for $15 has more features on it.It works fine with our secure web portal.
